In Australia, 55,000 couples experience early pregnancy loss, 1,750 babies are stillborn and approximately 900 babies die in infancy each year.
International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day is commemorated in October each year. At this special time of year, parents throughout the world hold memorial services in memory of a baby through miscarriage, termination for abnormality, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy, newborn and infant death or other reproductive losses.
The SANDS Townsville annual Walk To Remember allows parents, families, friends and members of our community to unite and participate in a memorial service, live butterfly release and walk along the Strand.
